"Zelda", 24" x 20", oil on canvas. 

My composition is based on my Transparent Oxide Brown under painting. More than a year ago, I textured my canvas, as per my usual practice, with a Lead White Ground. I referenced a July 6, 2022 photograph, which was taken by Zelda's Mom. 

Zelda is a wonderful little girl. She was seven years old at the time of the photograph. Zelda was dressed-up when she posed the photograph. Zelda is our grand-niece.  

I particularly enjoy the colors and composition of the reference photograph, which inspired me to paint this portrait. This portrait took some time to compose and complete. I began painting this composition nine or ten months ago, way back in the Fall of 2022. 

I completed this painting on August 9, 2023.
